FOR REVIEW
once you've done all of the above, you'll find you've created you own personalized study guide. cover the main section of the page and use the key words and questions in the left margin as a quiz.
STICK TO IT
review your notes the day you take them and all your notes once a week. that way, you wont need to study as much when its test time. you've been doing the work all along.
Try out the Cornell system, but if it doesn't work for you, experiment with other methods. Ask your classmates how they take notes or ask a teacher for advice. Taking good notes requires practice, like any other skill. And the more you work at it now, the more prepared you'll be to take notes in college.

The Power Of Study Groups (Part 1)
The
Power Of Study Groups (Part 1)
Working
Together Helps Everyone: You may have noticed that when you’re explaining
something you’ve learned to a friend, you being to understand it better
yourself. This happens because, when you explain an idea, you need to think
more deeply about it.
The same
principle makes study groups useful. Studying with others in a small group is
helpful because you:
Ø Think out loud
Ø Share ideas
Ø Learn from one another
In an effective
study group, you and other students hash out the lesson materials
together—explaining concepts, arguing about them, figuring out why one person’s
answer differs from another’s—and in the process, you most likely learn more
than you would have studying by yourself.

Student Success Statement
SSS: "success is dependent on effort." -Sophocles, Greek dramatist
REFLECTION: i agree with this statement because if you choose the right, then you will try hard and put effort into it and but if you choose the wrong, then you will not be putting effort into it and therefore, you will not achieve what it is that you've been wanting to achieve. CTR!!!

Jenna Huff's Kindness
SUMMARY: well, a young girl named Jenna Huff who was a state competition runner, was competing in a race for the State Championship and she was against a girl named Deb Guthman, and all of a sudden, near the finish line where Deb was approaching, she collapses into a break position. she then decided to help Deb to the finish line, quoting, "it was the right time to choose the right." Deb won the State Championship and Jenna didnt.
REFLECTION: i agree with what Jenna said because when you see the perfect chance where you are able to choose the right, then you should take it because it may not be what you desire, but at least youll be recognized as though The Person That Chose The Right. people should always be kind to others in order for others to be kind to them. Student Success Statement
SSS: "choosing the right is always the right thing to do." Alex Linares
REFLECTION: i agree with this statement because you should always choose the right under any circumstances no matter what because you will always have to choose the right when the time for choosing the wrong comes along in your path.
EXAMPLE: lets say you have an exam the next day, on a monday, and your friends invite you to a party. but most likely like a little kick back. therefore you say well its just a kick back so i will attend. then you go and you come back very very late and werent able to study. so therefore you fail the test the following day. SSS: " its better to be alone than to be in bad company." -Anon
REFLECTION: i believe that what this statement is stating is true because id rather be surrounded by people that choose the right than to be surrounded by people that choose the wrong because at least you know that youll be safe witht those that choose the right, than with those that choose the wrong.
EXAMPLE: an example is when your friends ask you to go with them to the theatres instead of studying but you have another group of friends that want to go with you to the library to study for the test the following day, so you CTR and go with those to the library and later find out that those who went to the theatres had a car crash for drinking and driving. 7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens (Habit 7 Part 1)
7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens (Habit 7
Part 1)
Habit 7: sharpen the saw
Teens should never get too busy living to take time to renew
themselves. When teens “sharpen the saw” they are keeping their personal self-sharp
so that they can better deal with life. It means regularly renewing and
strengthening the four key dimensions of life- body, mind, heart, and soul.
1. Body. Eat wholesome
foods, fruits, vegetables, legumes. Avoid illegal drugs, smoking, alcohol,
tobacco products, tattooing. Exercise regularly and effectively. Get plenty of
rest at night. Get to bed early at night and get up early each morning. “ early
to bed early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”
2. Mind. Think positively.
Read. Study. Think. Analyze. Seek to read a good book each month. Then each
week. Ask intelligent questions. Observe. Develop your mind through positive “self-talk.”

Successful Students 3-4

3. …ask questions. Successful students ask questions to
provide the quickest route between ignorance and knowledge. In addition to
securing knowledge you seek, asking questions has at least two other extremely
important benefits. There are no foolish questions, only foolish silence. It’s your
choice.
4. …learn that a student and a professor make a team. Most instructors
want exactly what you want: they would like for you to learn the material in
their respective classes and earn a good grade.
Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any
teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable
pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, and
you share the same interests, the same goals- in short, and your teammates. Get
to know your professor. You’re the most valuable players on the same team. Your
jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up a
losing season. Be a team player!
