Student Success Statement

SSS: "Honesty is the cornerstone of character. The honest man or woman seeks not merely to avoid criminal or illegal acts, but to be scrupulously fair, upright, fearless in both action and expression. Honesty pays dividends both in dollars and in peace of mind." -B.C. Forbes
REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is stating that if you are honest with others, lets say, about finding money, god, or others will repay you by money or a lack of good knowledge and everything good that you do has there own good things along with it.

Student Success Statement

SSS: "Stop worrying about whether you're going to win or lose and focus your full attention on what's happening right this moment." -Phil Jackson
11 World Championships-Coach
2 World Championships-Player
2 High School Championships-Player
REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is stating that we should not focus on the past or the future you should focus on the present because the present is what matters the most.

Time Management 8-10

Master the moments and you may be a real pro when it comes to juggling the many demands on your time- classes, homework and activities - with some family help. You might need to take care of current clients while attracting new ones, respond to e-mails while working on a major presentation, or order tomorrow's produce while planning next week's menu. Someone said, "Wherever you are, be there." Focus on the present moment and give it all your attention. Don't let your mind drift and wander here and there when you need to be thinking and concentrating on the moment  at hand. You can't go back and recapture this moment, so make the most of it while it NOW. Master the present and you will master the future. Work smart by mastering the present moment.

Student Success Statement

SSS: "TO BE GREAT--CONCENTRATE." -Orson Swett Marden
REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is stating that if we want to achieve something, we must stay focused on it and not lose concentration at all because we will never reach it.
EXAMPLE: For example if you want to get a good grade on a test, you must try hard and study hard as well.

Student Success Statement

SSS: "Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement." -Matt Biondi
REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is stating that if you try hard to achieve your goal or something that you really want, then that hard work will pay off, but if you did not try at all, then you will have to be the one that will have to pay!!! CTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EXAMPLE: If you try hard on a test, you will receive an amazing grade but if you dont try then you will failllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exam Day: Survival Tips (Part 2)

DURING THE TEST
READ THE DIRECTIONS.
It's important that you follow the instructions exactly. For example, some questions may have more than one correct answer.
ANSWER EASY QUESTIONS FIRST.
Doing this can jog your memory about useful facts. You may also come across information that can help you with other questions.
ANSWER EVERY QUESTION.
Unless there is a penalty for wrong answers, try to answer every question; you may be able to get partial credit for those you begin but don't complete correctly.
ASK QUESTIONS.
If a question isn't clear, talk to your teacher. If that's not possible, explain your answer in the margin.

Student Success Statement

SSS: "improve your performance by improving your attitude." -ANON
REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is stating that if you want to succeed something in life, then you must be respectful to everyone or anything that will help you achieve that goal or take you to that goal because if you dont, and you stay being disrespectful to them, then you will not go anywhere or achieve anything at all.
EXAMPLE: lets say you want an A on the upcoming test...if you want that grade and those two E's in the next progress report, then you must be respectful at all times.

Its Online, But Is It On Target? (Part 3)

DOT-WHAT?
LOOKING AT THE SITE'S ADDRESS. WHAT FOLLOWS THE DOT?

    • DOT-MIL is used by sites that are part of the military.
    • DOT-edu usually indicates a university website. while it's published research is generally considered very trustworthy, anyone associated with the university, whether a world-renowned scholar on a freshman, can be given space on its server. professors sometimes put student course work up on the web, but that doesn't mean they're vouching for the information's accuracy.

Student Success Statement

SSS: "When an archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault  within himself. Failure to hit the bullseye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim, improve yourself." -Gilbert Arland
REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is saying that if you suffer from consequences or something you don't like, then it will not be the conflicts fault, it will be your fault because somehow you managed to mess it up.
EXAMPLE: For example: When you fail a test, and you tried your best and yet you failed, then it was not the testes fault, it was your fault because you rushed through it.

Student Success Statement

SSS: "Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow." -ROBERT KIYOSAKI
REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is saying that since everyday you choose the right, or you should choose the right, then therefore, you future will be a very bright future and you will feel good about it since you chose the right. Also cuz you should never choose the wrong. CTR!!!
EXAMPLE: For example, if you always do your work in class and afterschool or at home, then therefore you will get good grades and have a perfect future. CTR!!!!!!

Student Success Statement

SSS: NEVER "There is no justification even for choosing any part of what you know to be evil." -AYN RAND
REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because there is no right time to choose the wrong and especially no wrong time to say or think that it was right because once you made that mistake, there ain't no taking it back because now you have to deal with the consequences.
EXAMPLE: If you tagged in the school, and got caught and the teacher told you to stop running away, you either could run out the door, or, confront what you've done.CTR!!!

Student Success Statement

SSS: " EVERY TIME I'VE DONE SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT, IT'S ENDED UP NOT BEING RIGHT." -MARIO CUOMO (52nd governor of NY)

REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it always happens to me when i believe that i did something right, when really, it ended up being the stupidest thing i have ever done in my life.

PERSONAL EXAMPLE: One time i chose the wrong by pushing a little girl of the slide, because she had spit in my face on purpose for no reason, but then i remembered that she was a little so i ended up choosing the wrong than the right. :( CTR!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading (Tips 1-2)

Reading and writing go hand to hand. The better you can understand a text, the more likely you are to successfully communicate your thoughts about it in writing. So it's important to develop strong skills in both areas. With that in mind, here's how to improve your reading comprehension.
TIPS 1-2
Tip 1: ANNOTATE
Be an active reader. Instead of passively reading a text, take notes about important story elements, key factual information and significant ideas in the text.
TIP 2: NOTE THE AUTHOR'S WRITING STYLE
Every author writes with a purpose, using deliberate methods to successfully relate specific information to the audience. When you're reading, look for patterns in the author's writing. For example, you may notice a repetition of key words, phrases or symbols - or the use of a distinct type of sentence structure. Authors employ these writing strategies to help readers comprehend a central argument or theme, so be sure to explore how these techniques create meaning.

SSS: "Be always sure you're right, then go ahead." -Davey Crockett 1786-1836

REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is a really good statement that is stating that you should always make sure that you're right and when you are right, go ahead and continue being right and have fun as your doing it.

EXAMPLE: when you choose the right, dont be afraid to admit that you are and be proud of it because that way you'll succeed in life ;) <3

Take Control Of Homework (Part 1)

Although very few students love homework, it does serve a purpose. Homework helps you:

  • REINFORCE what you've learned during the day.
  • BUILD study habits that are essential in college.
  • PREPARE for your classes.
  • GET a sense of progress.
Here are some tips to help you deal with homework more efficiently and effectively.
Set The Mood
Create a good study area with everything you need (for example, a calculator). If you don't have a quiet place at home, try your school or local library.
Know Where To Begin
Make a list of everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignments first, so you don't have to face them at the end.
Study At The Same Time Every Day
Even if you don't have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you'll approach it with less dread. Also, you'll become a pro at using time productively.

Not-Taking Strategies (Part 4)

FOR REVIEW
once you've done all of the above, you'll find you've created you own personalized study guide. cover the main section of the page and use the key words and questions in the left margin as a quiz.
STICK TO IT
review your notes the day you take them and all your notes once a week. that way, you wont need to study as much when its test time. you've been doing the work all along.
Try out the Cornell system, but if it doesn't work for you, experiment with other methods. Ask your classmates how they take notes or ask a teacher for advice. Taking good notes requires practice, like any other skill. And the more you work at it now, the more prepared you'll be to take notes in college.
