Balancing High School and a Part Time Occupation (Part 3)

Balancing High School and Part-Time Work (Part 3)
Brad MacGowan of the Career Center at Newton North High School in Massachusetts, thinks that working can be valuable part of a student’s life, if taken on responsibility. “You can derive a great deal from working, considerably more than just money,” he says. “In most cases, you can acquire a nice dose of discipline and a whole new set of skills and experiences.” In addition, your supervisor may be willing to write a strong college recommendation for you.
School Comes First: Schoolwork, including homework and studying for test, should always be your top priority. MacGowan cautions students who do decide to work, “If you are rushing through your assignments… or not studying enough for test because of work, it’s time to cut back or quit and find a less time-consuming job.”

Grandparents Locked Girl In Bathroom For Six Years

SUMMARY: we learned about a young innocent girl who got locked in her bathroom by her grandparents FOR NO ABSLOUTE REASON!!! if you Ask me i would say that i believe that was absord! it all started at the age of three. idk but if you ask me, i say that that is really really wrong and below the line. she didnt get saved until she told the school nurse, and the school nurse called the police and she was safe :)

REFLECTION: I personally do not think this is the right thing to do even if the girl did something wrong. but, do you think that children deserve something cruel like this if they did something wrong? at the age of THREE YEARS OLD!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?! CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!! >:)

Balancing And Part-Time Work (Part 1)

Balancing High School And Part-Time Work (Part 1)
Like many high school students, you may want- or need—to work part time. working takes a lot of time and energy, though, so before getting a job, make sure that you think about your ability to handle both work and your education.
Important Considerations: You have to weigh a number of factor’s when deciding whether to take on a part-time job. It is important to get as much information as possible, so you can figure out what choice makes the most sense for you. Schedule a meeting with your school counselor to discuss the idea of working. Talk to your counselor about why you want to work and what type of position you’re seeking.

"if it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it." -Marcus Aurelius

REFLECTION: I agree with this statement because it is true that if you are doing something wrong, or about to, DON'T DO IT!!! But if you are thinking about doing something that is correct and right, then go ahead and do it!!! Also, if you are about to say something that is like vulgar language or any other type of disgusting thing, DO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT SAY IT!!! Unless, it is something appropriate to say then say it! CTR!!!

Selecting Your Courses (Part 6)

if you have concerns about your class schedule or progress or in school, set up a meeting with your school counselor, teacher or adviser. there are many resources to help you with this process, and with achieving your personal, college and career goals. without goals, you meander all sorts of directions. goals give you purpose, direction, enthusiasm, and passion for that which you really desire. define your goals deliberatley, evaluate your goals often and make changes as neccessary, work hard to achieve your goals, and continue working hard until you actually do reach your goals.

"in any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing."    -Theodore Roosevelt

REFLECTION: i agree with this statement because when you do not know what to do in time of doubt, you should follow your mind or heart and choose the right or in other words, the right thing to do.

EXAMPLE: lets say you are at a party, and they offer you one drink, should you take it or should you leave it??? is it good to drink alchohol when you are a minor??? or in need of excercise or something healthy??? YOU SHOULD CHOOSE THE RIGHT AND NOT DRINK IT OR SMOKE IT OR DO ANYTHING WITH IT OR ELSE YOU WILL PAY THE CONSEQUENCES...BELIEVE ME!

Selecting Your Courses (Part 5)

Advanced Placement Program (AP)
to be sure you are ready to take on college-level work, enroll in the most challenging courses you can in high school, such as honors or AP courses. research consistently shows that students who score a 3.0 or higher on an AP Exam typically experience greater academic success and college graduation rates than students who dont take AP.
Work hard in your righteous pursuits, and you will reap the benefits of self-fulfillment and job satisfaction. dont take shortcuts just to "get by," instead take challenging and difficult roads (courses) and reach higher mountain peaks of achievement.

SSS: "To know what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice."     -Confucius

REFLECTION: i agree with this statement because if you are a coward at doing what is right, like, you know that you should choose the right but you go with choosing the wrong because you are a chicken, to face your fears and choose the right, then that makes you a big time COWARD/CHICKEN/UNCOURAGEOUS/DUMB human being. (not in a disrespectful way).
but you should only be a coward at doing or saying something when your life is in stake.

Selecting Your Courses (Part 4)

                                  Selecting Your Courses (Part 4)
Social Studies
You can better understand local and world events that are happening now by studying the culture and history that has shaped them. Here is a suggested course plan:
1.   U.S History (Two Semesters)
2.   U.S Government (one Semester)
3.   World History or Geography (one Semester)
4.   One Additional semester in the above or other areas

Foreign Languages
Solid foreign language study shows colleges you’re willing to stretch beyond the basics. Many colleges require at least two years of study in the same foreign language, and some prefer more.
Learning foreign language can be a challenge but is exciting. Repetition is the key to learning a language, and having conversations with others speaking the same language is the best way to learn this new language. Repetition in a fun way will build your skills thoroughly  as you seek to master new languages.

'Tis the Set of the Sail  -Ella Wheeler Wilcox 1916
But to every mind there openeth,
a way, and a way, and away.
A high soul climbs the highway, And the low soul gropes the low, And in between on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.

But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low,
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.
One ship sails East,
And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.
Like the winds of the sea
Are the waves of time,
As we journey along through life,
'Tis the set of the soul,
That determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

SSS: "a man without a goal, is like a ship without a rudder."     -Thomas Carlyle

REFLECTION: i agree with this statement because if the ship did not have a rudder, how would it know where to go or how would it get there. and if a man did not have a goal, or an achievement he wanted to achieve, then what would he be doing and where would he be headed if it werent for that goal. therefore, everyone should have at least a goal or a plan b if they do not achieve it. Selecting Your Courses (Part 1)

The academic rigor of your high school courses is an important factor in the college admission process. College admission officers see your high school course schedule  as a blueprint of your education. They’re looking for a solid foundation of learning that you can build on in college.
To create that information, take at least five solid academic classes every semester. Start with the basics and then move on to advanced courses. Challenging yourself is part of what makes school fun; but you need a firm grasp of the fundamentals before going on to more advanced work.

The Power of Study Groups (Part 4)

The Power of Study Groups (part 4)
Getting the Most of a Session :Here are some tips to help your group get the most out of each study session:
Ø Decide what you’re going to do in advance.
Ø Prepare for the session so you can make the most of your time together
Ø Take turn teaching to reinforce your own knowledge
Ø Stick to the session topic
By supplementing your individual study with a study group you can reinforced what you’ve learned deepen your standing of complex concepts and maybe  even make a few new friends. Remember that a friend is a person who encourages you to do your best and to achieve on a high level one who pushes you to try a little harder and be a litter better. If someone pulls you down the wrong trails of life than those people are not friends, (they are actually your enemies), and you must avoid them all cost. Whoever said learning can’t be fun? Learning is enjoyable and exciting when you study with others.

The Power Of Study Groups (Part 3)

The power of Study Groups (Part 3)
Guidelines for Getting a Group Together :Here are some guidelines for creating and running a study group: How many? Create a group of four to six people. In a larger group, it’s easy for someone to get left out and smaller groups can easily get off track.
Who? Pick classmates who seem to share your interest in doing well academically. Look for people who stay alert in class, take notes, ask questions and response to the teacher’s questions. Include someone who understand the material better than you and can explain the concepts and someone who doesn’t understand it as well to whom you can explain the material.
Where? Hold study group session in a place that is free of distractions and that has room to spread out books and notes. . How long? Meet for no more than two to three hours at a time. an hour you’re likely to stay on task.
When? Try to meet regularly on the same day and time each week. Treating the study session as you would other activities helps you to keep to a schedule and ensures that everyone attends.

SSS: "in life as in football, you wont go far, unless you know where the goalposts are." -Arnold Glasgow

REFLECTION: i agree with this statement because it is stating that you will not go far in life unless you know where you are headed. or in other words, how are you going to achieve your goals or dreams or hopes if you do not know how to or where to begin. therefore, you should know where you are headed and what you are going to do. The Power Of Study Groups (Part 1)

The Power Of Study Groups (Part 1)
Working Together Helps Everyone: You may have noticed that when you’re explaining something you’ve learned to a friend, you being to understand it better yourself. This happens because, when you explain an idea, you need to think more deeply about it.
The same principle makes study groups useful. Studying with others in a small group is helpful because you:
Ø Think out loud
Ø Share ideas
Ø Learn from one another
In an effective study group, you and other students hash out the lesson materials together—explaining concepts, arguing about them, figuring out why one person’s answer differs from another’s—and in the process, you most likely learn more than you would have studying by yourself.

"Walk The Talk" Reflection

SUMMARY: I really liked this video because there was no talking involved at all it was all only words that we had to read and i enjoyed it because we talked about being loyal, kind, honest and etc. but then at the end it had a quote that was stated by a man who said that if we all just quiet down, and listen to the little voice inside us, that that little voice is telling us to choose the right.

REFLECTION: i believe that this video is true because it is all about how we should choose the right and be loyal, faithful, respectful, etc and it is true that we should do that in order to get to the right path and the right place.

SSS: "nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices."  -Albert A. Montapert

REFLECTION: i agree with this statement because if you choose the right, then you will be in good consequences and not bad or ferrocious consequences like those other ones that choose the wrong because those that choose the wrong suffer so many baaaaaaaaad consequences. CTR!!!
